Anantnag, Mar 27: The J&K Nationalist Peoples Front (JKNPF) made a significant announcement on Wednesday by naming its candidate for the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary constituency during a public gathering in Anantnag.
The party has selected its president, Sheikh Muzaffar, as its candidate to contest for the Anantnag-Rajouri seat. This marks the first nomination by any political party contesting for this seat, with polling scheduled for May 07, 2024.
Sanjay Kumar, the patron of JKNPF, formally announced Sheikh Muzaffar's candidacy and urged the people to support him.
Kumar said that the elections will bring about real change and urged voters to cast their votes at their convenience. “The Anantnag Rajouri seat is an important constituency, and we have carefully considered it by fielding the best candidate, our party president, for this constituency,” he added.
Sheikh Muzaffar said, "We are the first political party under the patronage of Sanjay Kumar to announce its candidate. This is a significant and joyous announcement for the constituents."
He added, “I faced immense pressure from the party to contest, but despite my initial refusal, the party chose me, and I welcomed their decision wholeheartedly."
Muzaffar said they made tireless efforts over the past five years since the party's inception, represented by the symbol of a 'batsman', which has gained its ground workers. “We have dedicated ground workers across South, North, Central Kashmir, and Jammu, forming a strong base that gives me confidence in our victory in this election,” he said, adding that the party has taken a stance of not forming alliances with any political party.
Muzaffar also said that wherever the party nominates a candidate, a press conference will be held. Regarding the North seat, he disclosed that 'Beigh Sahab' is among the names under consideration by the party's Parliamentary board.
